Lesson 3.2 – Gable Roof Design
The same concepts apply to the gable roof design along the eves. There are less problems where the gable peak is, but the eaves have the same potential as the hip roof design.

What do we do now to increase R-value in space-confined roof structures?
Closed cell foam was born; an incredibly dense, liquid insulation which is blown against exterior walls, roof sheathing, or wherever needed to give you the desired or required R-value.
And while this technology has been adopted into new codes, it nevertheless comes with increased toxicity, off gassing and further condensation issues, which we will discuss later. Despite the previous examples, there are technological and design solutions to policy-driven codes that do meet R-values in a healthy way. However, they cost between 200% and 400% more to get there. That’s a heavy financial burden for most homeowners to incur, which often leads to faulty installation methods and highly unhealthy homes.
