Techniques for preventing water intrusion
One of the techniques I employ is increasing the height of the foundation reveal on the outside of the home beyond the normal codes. I prefer 10, rather than 6 inches, to be seen between the ground and the bottom of the siding, stucco, etc. This helps as the natural ground surrounding your home expands in the decades following the building process.
In addition to the taller foundation face, a designer can also call for a floor system that can help avert water problems up front.
There are two forms of floor system building:

The floor structure is built on top of the foundation. This raises the house by the height of the floor joists. It is less expensive and is how homes are typically constructed.
